Polymer clay conferences, regional gatherings, and guild retreats are a great way for people working in this medium to come together, exchange ideas, talk shop, and renew the creative and personal connections that have helped to evolve our medium and make our community stronger. In 1996, we were invited to join the faculty of the first Convergence at Ravensdale in
Ravensdale, Washington. Rather serendipitously, we found ourselves there, among a roster of pioneers, many of them the mentors who had unknowlingly taught Dan via the pages of a pivotal book by Nan Roche. Convergence at Ravensdale was more than just a conference. It was The New Clay come to life, a seminal event for us as teachers, and a watershed for the entire polymer clay movement. We’ve been lucky enough to be on the faculty of every Ravensdale since, and have taught, presented, or exhibited at several other international events.
